Tai Chi is an ancient form of Martial Arts, which in modern times is used more commonly for health benefits. The slow movements used in Tai Chi help increase flexibility and suppleness, as well as exercise the muscles. Gentle movements also aid relaxation and help to keep the mind calm and focused. The benefits of Tai Chi are extremely useful in today’s stressful world.
Tai Chi can be practised by people of all ages and physical abilities. It uses the concept of Qi (Chi) from Traditional Chinese Medicine which promotes the smooth flow of energy through the body so that by performing the Forms, in co-ordination with relaxed breathing, the external movements assist the internal flow of energy.
In the Tai Chi programme, we concentrate on Hand Forms in Yang Style, Sun Style and Qigong to promote health and wellbeing.
